Mount Isa Sexual Health
Mount Isa Sexual Health (MISH) delivers safe, accessible and culturally appropriate health care focusing on sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing of men and women. MISH offers a free and confidential service with friendly male and female staff.
The MISH service concentrates on access to screening, treatment and resources throughout the North West Queensland district.
MISH provide (by appointment):
- Women's and Men's Business
- Testing and treatment of sexually transmissible infections, HIV and hepatitis
- Contraception clinic and cervical screening
- Pregnancy options
- Sexual function
- Genital skin conditions
- Prep (HIV prevention medication)
- nPEP (non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis for potential exposure to HIV)
- Community based screening programs for STIs, HIV, syphilis, viral hepatitis
- Gender affirming care (transgender; brother boy, sister girl care)
- Community engagement, health prevention and promotion activities
- Needle and Syringe Program (NSP)
No referral needed.
Mobile Women's Health Service
The Mobile Women's Health Service is an outreach component of Mount Isa Sexual Health and provides a free and confidential women's health service.
Services provided, but are not limited to:
- Cervical screening tests (pap smears)
- Sexual health screening and treatment
- Contraception provision
- Implanon insertion and removal
- Pregnancy information - pre-conceptual care and pregnancy options
- Referrals to Gynaecologist if required
Clinic hours: 8:30am to 12:30pm, then 1:30pm to 4:00pm (last appointment 3:30pm), Monday to Friday.
